Travel has a way of making us think differently about what we carry.
A bag becomes a reminder of where we have been. A textile can carry the history of the person who made it. And something as simple as a toiletry bag or passport holder can become part of the story of a journey.
This Seattle Made Week, we are celebrating all of those things with our new Seattle Made Travel Edit — a collection of functional, travel-ready pieces made right here in Seattle by local artisans using rescued and deadstock textiles.
Because we believe the things we use every day can be beautiful, useful, and made with intention.
Our Seattle Made Travel Edit was created around a simple idea:
Take materials that already exist and turn them into something you actually want to take with you.
The collection includes toiletry bags, makeup bags, passport holders, Kantha sleep masks, and other travel accessories made from a mix of rescued textiles, deadstock materials, vintage fabrics, and other materials that deserve another life.
No two textiles are exactly alike. That means the pieces themselves are often one-of-a-kind, with the color, texture, and history of the original material becoming part of the finished design.
This is one of the things we love most about working with reclaimed textiles.
Instead of starting with a blank roll of fabric, we start with what already exists — and let the material help determine what comes next. Shop the collection.

At Transcend, "made in Seattle" means more than putting a local label on a product.
Our Seattle production work is part of a growing network of local artisans, seamstresses, and makers — including refugee and immigrant women who bring years of sewing and textile experience with them.
Many of these skills were learned through family, culture, and lived experience rather than through traditional fashion education.
We believe that knowledge is valuable.
Our goal is to create more opportunities for skilled makers to use those abilities, earn meaningful income, and become part of a fashion industry that too often overlooks the people doing the actual making.
As our Seattle production studio has grown, so has our ability to bring more of that work into our local community. Today, our team works with reclaimed textiles, deadstock, donated materials, vintage fabrics, and other textile resources to create new products right here in Seattle. Shop the collection.

This local production model is becoming an increasingly important part of what we are building at Transcend.
We talk a lot about textile waste.
But for us, circular fashion isn't simply about keeping something out of a landfill.
The bigger question is:
Can we make something from existing materials that someone genuinely wants to keep using?
That is where design and craftsmanship matter.
A piece of deadstock fabric is only "saved" if we can turn it into something useful. A vintage textile only stays in circulation if someone wants to carry it, wear it, repair it, and eventually pass it along.
That is why our approach to upcycling is not about making something look recycled.
It is about making something beautiful enough, functional enough, and meaningful enough that you want to use it.
Travel has always been connected to the Transcend story.
Our products are inspired by heritage textiles, craftsmanship, movement, and the people and places behind the materials we work with. Now, with our Seattle Made Travel Edit, we are bringing that idea closer to home.

These are small objects, but they are also reminders that fashion does not have to begin with a new piece of fabric, a distant factory, or a completely new product.
Sometimes, it can begin with what is already here.
Seattle is home to an incredible community of makers, craftspeople, artists, and small businesses creating things with their hands and building businesses around their skills.
Seattle Made Week gives us an opportunity to celebrate that community — and to show you a little more of what is happening inside our own studio.
Our Seattle Made Travel Edit is now available online and in both of our Seattle retail locations at Pacific Place and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
During Seattle Made Week, you can also use code SEATTLE to receive 10% off your purchase at our retail locations.
Whether you're heading across the country, taking a weekend trip, or simply looking for something made with a little more intention, we hope you'll discover something that goes with you.
